How to remove the lapel grip in grip fighting?

We'll start with your uke posting on your shoulder.

  1. You're going to make a C with your hand and put it on their wrist then twist your uke's hand so their pinky is pointing towards the ceiling.
  2. Next you're going to punch the hand away (make sure to keep control of the hand).
  3. With your free hand grab your uke's lapel.

When should I use Peeling The Lapel ?

This move is best used when you are getting out gripped or your partner establishes the first grip on the lapel.

Make sure to stay extra diligent when it comes to grip fighting. If your partner has the lapel grip right off the bat it will be very hard for you to successfully attack.

You never want to be out gripped so be sure to use this tool anytime your partner establishes a grip.
